I understand that our "contend for" must be balanced with a "contextualizing to" the culture that seeks those proofs for faith (Driscoll).

On one side, there are some that are very keen on defending and contending for the tenets of historic Christian orthodoxy, and often do so arrogantly without care for *who* they are talking to. On the other side, there are those that contextualize everything to the culture of the hearers that God's word is thus subject to man's opinion.

A truly humble orthodoxy should seek to proclaim Christ as both exalted Lord and incarnate Son of God - a balance of contending for and contextualize to.

iunno, i never liked the WWJD acronym. what would Jesus do? If we were to walk across a crippled man or poor person, what would Jesus do?
well, He would probably heal them, rite? well, that's what he did alright, but what does that mean for us?
but if u look at the purpose behind his miracles/healing, then it makes more sense. yes, he is our living example, but i don't think we're called to do what He did, but follow what he taught WDJT...what. does. Jesus. teach. not just from His talking, but living too. just my lil beef, no biggie :)

haha.. to answer ur questions gusto5...i believe it's the individual that comes to faith through Christ, regardless of the parents are christian or not, the kids are in Christ through their own decision. however, the family will be blessed with members who are practicing Christians.

and i don't think someone in the family who leaves the faith makes the rest of the family any less Christian. can Christians lose their faith? then again, you question if they were really saved when they dedicated their life to God. I personally believe that one cannot lose their faith if they were truly baptized through the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Alex's comment leaves me so confused. So if a Christian marries a non-Christian, and they have children, and the non-christian leaves, what does that make the kids?

AND, speaking of apostasy, what happens if two Christian couples marry, and have kids, and then one of them turns from Christianity?!

Ephesians 5 says,

25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

That is how a husband SHOULD sanctify his wife; and of course, such sanctification by God through the husband is only possible if he is in Christ. Thus, 1 Cor 7:12 says, "If any brother" refering to those believers in Christ.

No, Christians cannot and should not marry non-Christians. The commands of 1 Cor 7 addresses the sinful activities the Corinthian church have done, and thus " Ifany brother has a wife who is not a believer" which is a hypothetical... and then Paul exhorts.

All unbelievers, including believers before they came to believe, are sanctified by God through His Word, the living water.

The marriage of a believer and unbeliever is not bound under the Divine covenant of marriage. Paul calls such people to resolve such a situation peacefully, because it is apostasy to assume that such marriage happened under God's will of command.
